Big, Curvacious, Flexible and Defined.

CES is the biggest consumer electronics trade show in the world. It takes place in Las Vegas at the beginning of January every year and gives manufacturers the opportunity to showcase their latest products.

This year a record two milion net sq feet of exhibition space housed more than 3200 exhibitors and over 150,000 industry professionals were in attendance.

The television news from CES 2014 was a mixture of the 'present' – with all major TV manufacturers showcasing new models which will be in store this year, and the 'future' – with new shapes, sizes and technology creating the most buzz.

The present was all about 4K TV, Ultra 4K TV, and 4K Ultra HD TV….put simply, four times the total number of pixels of a full HD 1080p screen. With 4K technology still in it's infancy it has been the lack of broadcast content that has held sales and interest back on these televisions. However, 2014 looks like it could be the year this starts to change with Netflix about to begin streaming 4K content in the spring and rumours of some 4K broadcasts during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Panasonic, Samsung, LG and Sharp all had brand new 4K televisions on show at CES 2014.

And the future?

There were flexible televisions that could 'bend it like Beckham' at the touch of a button and enormous curved televisions that looked amazing but could prove difficult to wall mount above the fireplace!
