Surprising new data shows that sales of vinyl records in the UK reached a 20 year high of 1.29 million in 2014 following seven years of continuous growth and vinyl album sales are predicted to rise by 70% in 2015.
In response to the soaring sales figures the Official Charts Company (OCC) have announced two new charts for vinyl single and album releases; launching the official Vinyl Album and Singles Top 40 Chart this week. The new charts will be published each Sunday at 7pm.
Martin Talbot, the OCC's Chief Executive said: "With vinyl album sales up by almost 70% already this year, vinyl junkies could well have snapped up two million by the end of 2015 – an extraordinary number if you consider sales were one-tenth of that six years ago."
This announcement was perfectly timed to coincide with Record Store Day 2015 which will take place on Saturday April 18th with 592 limited edition releases available in independent record stores for just one day.
To help celebrate this revival in vinyl and Record Store Day 2015, Moss of Bath would like to invite you to bring your favourite vinyl single or album to the store on Saturday April 18th.
We will be setting up a Pro-Ject Debut turntable with a pair of the stunning Bowers & Wilkins CM6 series 2 loudspeakers so that you can listen to your favourite record! We will be featuring the best choices on Twitter and Facebook throughout the day so, dust off the covers and bring your vinyl to Moss of Bath on Saturday April 18th!
