Which sporting events will you be watching/listening to in 2023?
There are going to be so many unmissable sporting events in 2023 including World Cups from France, India, South Africa, Australia & New Zealand as well as iconic sporting competitions such as the Men’s and Women’s Ashes in England to the Ryder Cup in Italy.
With so many potential sporting highlights to come it’s impossible to list them all but here are our top ten to put in the diary:
- The Australian Open Tennis from Melbourne: 16 – 29 January where defending champion Rafael Nadal will be trying to thwart Djokovic’s attempt to win a 22nd Grand Slam title.
- Rugby Union Men’s & Women’s Six Nations: 4 February – 18 March, 25 March – 29 April Two new head coaches, an impending World Cup for the men and the reigning ‘Red Roses’ champions go again.
- Formula One World Championship: 5 March – 26 November Starting in Bahrain and ending in Abu Dhabi with the prospect of an exciting spectacle in Las Vegas, no Vettel this season but ‘old timer’ Alonso replaces him at Aston Martin.
- The Golf Augusta Masters: 6 April – 9 April Possible controversy with the LIV Golf players taking part; will this be the year that the world’s number one, Rory McIlroy, will get to wear the green jacket?
- Women’s FA Cup Final: 14 May Back at Wembley, sure to be a sell-out after last year’s amazing achievement when the England women’s team brought the European Cup home?!
- The Men’s & Women’s Ashes: 16 June – 31 July, 22June – 18 July Both sides bidding to regain the Ashes. Hoping for sunshine, thrills and a bit of Bazball!
- Tour de France & Tour de France Femmes: 1 July – 23 July, 23 July – 30 July Surely cycling’s greatest event? The men will start the 3400km route in Spain before tackling very mountainous terrain in France and the women will set off from Clemont-Ferrand and head south. Expect to see many more lycra clad cyclists around Bath during this time.
- Women’s Football World Cup: 20 July – 20 August Jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand with 32 competing nations. Can the Lionesses bring it home?
- Men’s Rugby World Cup: 8 September – 28 October France host and the tournament gets under way with their team playing New Zealand. The blues versus the blacks, should be spicy!
- Ryder Cup: 29 September – 1 October Let’s not mention 2021 but remember that the European team haven’t lost at home since 1993. This is the first time that the event will be held in Italy and it could be an interesting line-up for both sides with the suggestion that the LIV golfers will not be able to take part. Our Managing Director and Financial Director are available should Luke Donald be struggling to pull a team together!
This is merely a taster of what is in store for sporting fans in 2023 (I’m sure I’ve left out someone’s favourite) and with most of it being televised and/or broadcast on the radio Moss of Bath have a wide range of televisions, radios, smart speakers, portable smart speakers and headphones to keep you connected all year.
How will you be tuning in?
