Turning Dreams into Stone and Screen
Rather than simply admiring the photograph, our client took decisive action. A skilled local stonemason was commissioned to recreate the stone structure and then Moss of Bath was approached to handle the technical installation that would transform the beautiful stonework into a fully functional outdoor entertainment centre.
The challenge was clear: create a seamless integration of cutting-edge technology within a traditional stone setting, whilst ensuring the system would perform flawlessly in the British climate.
The Technical Installation
The team at Moss of Bath carefully planned and executed the technical aspects of this ambitious project. It began by routing underground satellite and data cables, ensuring all connections would be completely hidden whilst maintaining reliable performance. This approach not only preserves the aesthetic beauty of the installation but also protects the cabling from the elements.
The centrepiece of the installation is a Samsung 65-inch Terrace TV, specifically designed for outdoor use. This model is engineered to withstand the challenges of outdoor environments. It offers exceptional brightness levels that remain clearly visible even in direct sunlight, whilst being fully weatherproof.
To maintain the clean lines of the stone structure, a Sky-Q receiver was concealed within a hidden cupboard at the rear of the installation. This clever placement ensures full functionality whilst maintaining the visual impact of the stonework.
Immersive Audio Throughout the Garden
The visual aspect is complemented by an equally impressive audio system that transforms the entire garden space into an outdoor cinema. Twelve Sonance satellite speakers were strategically positioned around the formal lawn area and cleverly concealed within borders and hedges, spiked directly into the soil for stability whilst remaining virtually invisible.
To provide the deep, rich bass that makes action films and music truly come alive, we incorporated two partly sunken sub-woofers. This discreet placement ensures powerful low-frequency reproduction without compromising the garden’s aesthetic appeal.
The entire audio system is driven by a Sonance multichannel amplifier, with convenient control via the user-friendly Sonos App. This means our client can easily adjust volume, select different audio zones, and control the entire system from a smartphone or tablet.
